In math: Students will begin working with areas of rectangles, connecting multiplication and geometry. Our next unit is on fractions as numbers on the number line. Students need to continue memorizing multiplication facts up to 12 x 12. Students can work on Math Facts in a Flash and IXL at home. The goal for the end of 3rd grade is to have passed all division levels on Math Facts in a Flash.
In writing: Students will be taking notes and writing summaries of non-fiction articles.
In science/social studies: Students are studying the solar system in science. After this unit, we will study regions of the United States (history and geography).
In reading: Students will explore the role of wolves in fiction and non-fiction texts, and then write an opinion essay defending whether the wolf is "a bad guy" or not, based on text evidence.
