In math: Students are working on word problems. Students need to continue working on mastering all addition and subtraction levels in Math Facts in a Flash. Then, they need to begin work on multiplication and division levels as well.
In writing: Students have written personal narratives and taken notes to help them write summaries of non-fiction articles.
In science/social studies: We have studied the northeast region of the United States and we will continue our study of regions of the United States throughout the spring. In January and early February, we will study Objects in the Sky such as the sun, moon, constellations, and planets.
In reading: Students did an amazing job synthesizing their research about frogs into a frog trading card project. Come see these on the stairwell near our classroom. Students have been doing a fabulous job learning poetic techniques such as simile, metaphor, hyperbole, personification, and repetition and applying this knowledge to their reading and writing as they experiment with poetry.
